Archery by Curtis

                                       Archery Madness

On Thursday afternoon our adventure began with Archery. That afternoon was my favorite part of camp. Archery seemed very interesting to me. I’d never done it before. It seemed fun by the look of the kids faces after they had done it.

Before archery I felt nervous. “What if I don’t get it on the board,” I thought to my self. When I got there I was amazed. First was me. I held the bow and arrow, pulled back as had as I could then let go. It flew through the air like an air-plane, then hit the board. I sat down and waited for my turn again. “My turn”! I shouted.

We continued and when I was finished I felt like I was in heven. It was great! We all went back to our cabins. “That was so much fun!” I exclaimed.

The water slide - By Elliott

                                WATER SLIDE

It was a Wednesday sunny afternoon. Wilson told me that the water slide was next.Great i thought.I raced to my cabin and pulled on my wet togs. Then I ran like a cheetah to the water slide.

Time went by as I was waiting for my turn.I was ready for the challenge. Rhys had told me how high it was.At the top I felt scared.I said to my self’’ I can do this’

I went down the water slide like a jet plane.I revved my engine 10 km faster and then boom  water went 10 feet high  in the air.I swam to the ladder  and climbed up it.When I was walking to my cabin I said to my self ‘’ I hope I can go on that again.

After a while, it was my turn, I was feeling ill and had the butterflies. My hands were starting to sweat, meanwhile I wiped them on my shorts and 2 steps at a time I climbed up the rusty ladder. Eventually I coughed because I felt nervous. It was an amazing view, you could see the lake and the kayakers and there was the bush to the left. As I got to the top I sat on the slide “you may be fine or you may be not” said a loud booming voice in my head. I coughed again and whoosh...

Even though I screamed, no voice came out. “The lake water doesn’t taste so good I thought, I swam to the tire “wow!! the water isn’t actually that cold,” said a the voice in my head again. Rachel pulled up the tyre. Ella was standing behind the railing, I didn’t want to hurt my leg. But suddenly I gained the confidence and joined the line.
As I was climbing up the ladder I knew I could do it again I felt like I hadn’t done it before, although I knew I could do it this time again. All of a sudden I was sliding down the slide at full speed and splash...

I had fallen into the lake head first, I felt my head go forward and burst up into the air.I swam towards the tyre, I dodged the stick poking out of a bundle of slimy seaweed. Although the ride was nerve-racking it was still a great ride and I hope I go on the slide next year!!

Raft Building By Amber

                                                                        Raft Building

On Wednesday, by the lake Olivia, Mia, Geneva, my self and Mia’s dad did raft building. I discovered everyone was excited. I ran down to the lake with my togs and rash top on and then I skidded to a halt. The raft building was about to start!
Before long every one was ready. We got tons of rope, 4 tyres, and a big block of wood with 3 holes on each side. Mean while we started to tie ropes around tyres and wood. Nerves, happiness, and excitement ran through my veins. We set  the sterdy wooden rafts out in the murkey blue - green lake. As soon as Mr. Skilton set out his kayak, the race begun! We had to race around two yellow petrol containers tied together in the middle of the lake.During the race we reached the containers first but the other team was wider so we lost. The race was fun but wet. Before long we finished the race and I was so tired. We     were pushing the raft back, in chin deep water I was so tired and so  were my legs, I collapsed on the raft.
I had never done this activity before and  it is a once-in-a-life-time chance. Every one was stiff from kicking so we went and relaxed in our cabins until kayaking.

The Water Slide

Today I was going to have to conquer the Water Slide. After my first activity I felt like my normal, calm, happy self, because I hadn’t yet seen the height and the length of the long cool Water Slide. But I knew from other children that you went incredibly fast and you very
quickly slipped  into the long, cold, and calm lake  which was as gooey as seaweed.

I then lazily dragged my heavy body as if I was an armadillo to my wooden cabin .
I then with ease, but slowly ,put my togs on and clung onto the rusty door handle...
”RRRrrrreeee”,I then  became  nervous and sick, it was as if I was as light as paper. I tried to distract my self by looking in other directions and by talking to others
but I still felt sick, and light. When I thought about the past it helped me to think about
the hard things, which I’d achieved, which there-for helped me. Although suddenly I
fell, and was going as fast as lightning, nothing was going wrong... and then within
a quick second I sliced through the  water like a professional and almost touched
the reefy bottom of the large lake.I then darted backwards the same way as I entered
while hearing cheers, stamped up the slippery and rubbery tyres like a boar,  and did
it a few more times.

When I was changing into my stretched top, I felt proud and happy,I couldn’t wait
for the new activity.

The Task

I knew I must do it. I knew I had to complete the task. The light shined down on me I shivered, I shook all over. I knew the more I thought about it, the harder it would be. I tried to calm myself down. I got ready...

I bent my knees and “One, two, three, Jump!!!” I lifted my heavy feet up. I was soaring through mid air like a hand glider. I landed. “Wobble, wobble, wobble” went the platform. My shoes gripped onto the plat form for dear life. It stopped. I was so relieved. I looked a head of me, and gasped.

I was scared. I couldn’t breath. I got finally breath back. Why was I so scared? I discovered that there was about a one meter gap that I had to jump over and I had to be perfect. If my jump wasn’t long enough I would fall down. Know right know you are probably thinking “Why doesn’t he just do a long jump?” Well that’s because if my jump is to long I would fall down as well. I had to be perfect. I closed my eyes tight, shivering like mad. “Jump!”

It all went so quick. It was like when you fast forward a video. I landed the platform shook and stopped

I was so happy, so excited. I made it!!! Now it was like the end of one of those horror movies. But I had something else on my mind. I got ready for the tyres...

The Tight Rope By Ella

I knew I had to do it. It would get harder the more time I took. Even though other people had done it and they didn’t fall off. My body was shaking all over I was so super doper extra nervous.

Besides I had already conquered the beginning of the confidence course. Slowly I took tiny tiny steps. One foot in front of the other. Suddenly a big gust of wind came, I froze!!! wobble, wobble went the tight rope.

A voice said in my head “ You’re going to fall you can’t do it”. Even though it kept repeating I didn’t listen. All I could hear was my friends cheering me on. Another gust of wind came it was as strong as a hurricane. I burst into tears, they were like big fat droplets rolling
down my cheeks. However when I realised I was past the half way mark I was over joyed
all my tears disappeared. I took a lot more steps bigger this time. Finally I had reached the end.

Getting off the tight rope I was so proud of my self.
